Born in New Jersey USA, Juliana Makovsky is a movie costume designer that has had experience with a number of modern movies. Notable ones include “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone”, “X-Men: The Last Stand”, and “The Legend of Bagger Vance”.
She attended The Art Institute of Chicago doing a bachelor of fine arts degree; she also went to Yale University School of Drama to do a Master’s of fine arts program.
When engaging her work Makovsky always does a large amount of research on her subject, "All projects begin for me with research” - Makovsky.
This research includes examining features of the time period the movie is based in. “For 'The Legend of Bagger Vance', I showed Robert (Redford) some obscure American Impressionist landscapes to show how the colors in the shadows could translate to the clothing palette on the golf courses," - "Bob (Redford) was a painter and art student, so I knew he would understand, but I don't think I could do that with a lot of directors- other directors like Gary Ross love to look at extensive research with me - as well as the more esoteric references." - Makovsky.
Projects she has worked on range from childlike wizard fantasy and futuristic heroes to post-World War 1 characters.
