


Born on September 4th1900, Baron George Hoyningen-Huene was a seminal fashion photographer in the 1920s and 30s. He had two sisters who both became fashion designers, Helen and Elizabeth.
He began work as a fashion draftsman but by the year 1925 Hoyningen-Huene had achieved the status of chief of photography in the French edition of Vogue. In the year 1931 Hoyningen-Huene met Horst who he frequently used as a model.
His works mostly featured both formalwear and swimwear, emphasizing the elegance of women and the masculinity of men.
He was known as a master-portraitist to both Hollywood stars and other celebrities.
Hoyningen-Huene had two books published, “Eye for Elegance” in 1980, and “The Photographic Art of Hoyningen-Huene” by William Ewingin 1998.
